Although there doesn't appear to be a Ford C2/C3 oil spec, the PSA spec for Peugeot/Citroens which use the same engine is C2/C3. The HTHS for C2 is >2.9 and C3 >3.5 - so it's likely to have better wear characterisics than the Ford 934 C1 (Low Saps) oil - and your experience also suggests that it could well be a good compromise.

The light brown is probably gearbox oil, check the level, there is a filler plug on the gearbox, fillit up untill it runs out. Gearboxes are usually leak free, placess to check are driveshafts, reverse light switch, gearchange linkage. There should be a vent pipe as well, if gearbox is over filled it will spit excess out. It is advised to have an oil change at least annually or after 6000 miles whichever comes first, diesels dirty the oil quite quickly so this is recommended despite Ford advising 12500 mile service intervals. Worked for me. Reset oil service light Ford Mondeo. Get in the vehicle ensure all doors are closed.

The biggest issue I had was the gearbox main seal leaking gearbox oil at 300,000km. I had a quote to replace which was Au$3000, so I purchased a seal from ebay for 150 bucks and pulled the gearbox out myself, big job! but still going strong 100,000km on.
The last time I changed gbox oil with ford WSS-M2C200-C (@100k miles) I saw no improvement in stiff gear changes from cold. Now, 50,000 miles later its time for another gbox oil change. If I should use WSS-M2C200-C then I would get Castrol Syntrans Multivehicle 75W-85 Or if I should use WSS-M2C200-D2 then I would get Castrol Syntrans FE 75W.
