The X really is way more different than the 8. Noticeable worthy improvements include: OLED (screen tech that has brighter colors and darker blacks while using less battery than the iPhone 8’s LCD screen,) WAY smaller bezels, camera, noticeably faster, and for me personally, a very luxurious looking glass back. It looks so sleek.
The iPhone X really doesn’t do anything better than the 8+ to justify the cost difference. Face ID is IMO inferior to Touch ID in its current iteration. Self portrait mode isn’t a feature I’m gong to willingly pay $300+ for. The only somewhat useful benefit to the X is the OIS on both camera modules.

If I accidentally leave an app it's 50/50 as to whether or not it stays in memory or if it'll be freshly booted. RAM management is terrible gaming performance is worse and editing videos and so takes longer with the Pixel.
iphone 8 screen on SE 2020 (dutch) At first glance the battery and back camera are the only parts that aren't compatible (back camera is, but you can see a quality difference). Otherwise the screen and front camera both work perfectly (still have to copy serial number for true tone), and the power button flex cable also works.
